United Way of NENY has grown to meet the needs of the communities of Albany, Saratoga, Schoharie and Rensselaer -- raising millions of dollars annually in response to those needs. During that time, United Way of NENY has become a vehicle for supporting a vast network of human service agencies, programs and services that directly and indirectly touch the lives of everyone by improving the quality of life in Albany, Saratoga, Schoharie and Rensselaer counties.

By leading local fundraising efforts, United Way of NENY has helped to marshal resources and is considered a trusted partner. However, community needs demand broader and more extensive involvement from our United Way, which is articulated in the newly stated mission of United Way of Northeastern New York:

To be the leader in bringing people and resources together to achieve measurable and sustainable improvements in the quality of life for our community.

This articulation of our mission is entirely consistent with United Way's history, but suggests an important shift in emphasis. As we go forward, United Way of NENY is now focused on community impact as the ultimate measure of success in achieving its mission.

Our new mission completes United Way of NENY's evolution from a fundraising organization to an impact-driven community change agent by committing the organization to a more focused emphasis on helping drive the community-building process.
