About United Way

Dear friends and neighbors,

To bring about change on a scale that truly matters involves the commitment of an outstanding array of partners: individual volunteers, supporters and extraordinary citizens, along with the allied forces of organized labor, business, government, advocacy groups, neighborhood agencies, and others.

What’s more, as this region’s preeminent community builders, we’re proud to lend our support to those who value tangible outcomes as much as we do … who acknowledge, with us, that sustainable and lasting change depends on more than money.

Consider just a few of the great things that have resulted from the gifts of partnership:

Through the Family Support Network, we opened the door to dozens of neighborhood centers for kids and their parents.

2-1-1 will connect those who need help with the help that they need all throughout New York State by 2007.

To tackle underage drinking, we joined forces with United Ways and other powerful thinkers beyond our own backyard … extending our reach to 1 million people.

By bringing a very special program, “Time Dollar” into our schools, we and our partners have seen school violence decline, along with discipline problems and suspensions. SPIN, another program, wards off high-risk behaviors among pre-teens.

Over $1 million in income tax returns and credits was returned to the working poor.

An all-new women’s philanthropic group committed to the self-sufficiency of women and girls.

By joining a global think tank – via the World Community Grid – not only to boost one’s future health, but to better utilize everyone’s digital resources.

On behalf of the thousands whose lives have changed because of you, our gratitude and good will.
